Project Overview
AMPCO performed demolition, earthwork, and site development services for the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) ITF Facility Phases 1, 2, and 3. The project supported the development of a major new parking and transportation facility serving Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Over a 1.5-year period, AMPCO completed demolition, utility removal, spoil management, export operations, off-site improvements, mass grading, and over-excavation activities required to prepare the site for construction. The project also included cement treatment of on-site soils and extensive backfill operations to achieve design grades and support future development.
A key challenge of the project was performing excavation and grading activities around active underground utilities while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations. Through detailed planning, utility coordination, and safe execution, AMPCO successfully completed the work while meeting the project’s demanding schedule requirements.
